Conference on Safety in the Construction industry: “Its My Right to come back home Safely!”

This first of its kind national conference took place through the initiative of WAC-Maan, on Saturday, July 23rd, to discuss the topic of safety in the workplace. The main message of the conference to 160 participants from the field of construction and their wives was that workplace accidents are not an edict from Heaven. There is no accident that cannot be prevented. The goal of the conference was to shake the public in view of shocking numbers: 30 yearly deaths of construction workers, most of them Arabs or migrant workers, and the injuring of above 6,200.

Migrant Workers Replacing Palestinians in Hotels: Hundreds of Veteran Palestinian Employees Expected to Be Laid Off by Year’s End

Hundreds of Palestinian workers employed in hotels across Israel—including in Jerusalem, Herzliya, and the Dead Sea region—are expected to be dismissed in the coming month and replaced by migrant workers. Since 2019, Akram Suleiman worked at Fattal Hotels by the Dead Sea. A native of Dahariya near Hebron, the 60-year-old father of four grown up, married children viewed his job as sacred. Ministry of Tourism Urges Dead Sea Hotels to Dismiss Veteran Palestinian Workers and Replace Them with Migrant Laborers

In July of this year, Dead Sea hotels began a process aimed at replacing qualified long-time Palestinian workers with migrant laborers. According to information recently received by MAAN – Workers Association, in addition to the dozens of Palestinian workers dismissed in July from hotels owned by the Fattal Group in the Dead Sea area, the company — along with other companies in the region — intends to dismiss many more.
