Additionally, we have campaigned to improve public policy in collaboration with government ministries and institutions such as the Welfare Department, the Jerusalem Municipality, the National Insurance Institute, insurance companies, the Ministry of Health, and the police. These campaigns were conducted in partnership with other human rights organizations operating in the city.
Among our notable achievements:
???? Securing 1.3 million NIS in unemployment benefit claims for workers who lost their jobs.
???? Ensuring that the National Insurance Institute paid unemployment benefits to workers who lost their jobs due to the war, regardless of their registration time at the Employment Bureau.
???? Providing personal counseling to dozens of workers put on unpaid leave (furlough) due to the war, helping them retain their jobs or protect their rights in case of dismissal.
???? Conducting workshops for women and youth on various topics, including furlough and returning to work, unemployment benefits, youth labor rights, and understanding pay slips.
???? Referring women to Hebrew language classes to aid their integration into the labor market, in collaboration with Lissan and Kulna Jerusalem.
???? Partnering in the integration of 23 Palestinian doctors, who were not certified in Israel, into the Israeli healthcare system. This project included Hebrew language training and professional gap bridging in a special program at the Sheba Medical Center, in collaboration with the Ryan Employment Center, which funded their training.
In addition to these efforts, MAAN continues its trade union work, organizing Palestinian workers in Area C, supporting unionized workers, signing new collective agreements, and assisting Palestinian workers in Israel who have been injured in work accidents.
In line with our commitment to combat sexual harassment in the workplace and society, our entire office staff participated in extensive training provided by the Sexual Assault Crisis Center in Jerusalem. This training was supported by CAFOD (UK).
