Spotlight on Cooperation
In order to advance Palestinian women in the job market, MAAN conducts rights literacy trainings in cooperation with local community initiatives. Two of these groups are Kulna and Lissan.
The ‘Kulna’ organization has turned into a well-established initiative in the scene of shared society in Jerusalem. Its program “Language Exchange” is one of Kulna’s leading projects. It began in 2017 when a Jewish and Palestinian student met in the Hebrew university to help each other master the Hebrew and Arabic language respectively. Today a pool of 1200 women of both nationalities meet, talk and eliminate borders.

Also Lissan’s roots, begun in the Hebrew university. Its initiators began tutoring Palestinian women in learning Hebrew in order to assist in removing a major barrier in their way to education and employment. Here is where MAAN and Lissan met, some five years ago. Ever since, Lissan has expanded and turned into a registered NGO with 2500 alumni . Its cooperation with MAAN has been ongoing in assisting beneficiaries to acquire better language accessibility in their quest for employment.
MAAN and Lissan are studying the possibility of opening professional courses that will be recognized and financed by the Employment Bureau.
